Controls and development progress

Balance's controls are the WSAD keys for movement, as well as the standard arrow keys. The game is currently in its first development cycle, as a prototype, with only basic movement and combat being completed. In the next development cycle, the combat system will have hopefully been finalised, as well as full PVE functionality in combat. (As well as flipping the character attack animation to face left if the enemy is on the left) The game is also intended to have multiple levels by the next development cycle, with each level having multiple areas/rooms filled with enemies, with the player having to clear each room before moving onto the next.

Design and Story

Balance is an upcoming independent, action-adventure, rogue-like game developed by CA Monteith. The game's art, mechanics and animations have been based on numerous successful predecessors, such as Minecraft Dungeons and Hades.

In the game, you play as John, a man trying to find his identity in a new universe fulled with fantasy and wonder, known as the Overworld. Over time, John develops magical powers, as well as achieving inner mental peace. But when a new enemy appears, threatening his newfound home, John must defeat the "void",  a world full of dangerous creatures known as shadows that plan to destroy the Overworld.
